UPCAT Review 2011

The UP Journalism Club imparts aspiring Iskos and Iskas tips and lectures to ace the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT).

For six Saturdays, UPJC prepped 15 senior students from different high schools in Quezon City.

The Metro Manila College in Novaliches, Quezon City, in partnership with its principal, Glenda Ortiz, provided the venue for the review.

The review started on June 11 with a diagnostic exam covering Math, Science, Reading Comprehension, and Language Proficiency.

The diagnostic exam was followed by a lecture on English (June 18).

The Science lecture was postponed on June 25 due to heavy rains, but was resumed the following week, July 2. It proved the versatility of the members, as they taught different concepts like genetics, chemistry, and the like.

Math proved to be no formidable foe as the members of UPJC gave out tips and shortcuts to answering complicated math problems.

After the Math lecture (July 9), UPJC tested the students on what they learned during the review by conducting a mock exam on July 16. They were then given certificates of participation for the review.

On the last session, July 23, UPJC answered the queries of the students regarding the UPCAT. The members also gave a quick recap of all the lessons taught in the past weeks.

The six-Saturday UPCAT review is a joint project of the Academic Committee, headed by Jon Lindley Agustin, and the Finance Committee, headed by Jenee Monique Ocampo.
