Thirty-one aspiring student journalists from St. Joseph School, Naga City attended the UP Journalism Club’s Campus Journalism Workshop (CJW) on Nov. 4-5.
This was the first CJW of the organization for the academic year 2011-2012.
CJW is a seminar-workshop conducted by the organization to help students develop their skills and to know the issues, trends, career opportunities and ethical practices in journalism.
Among the lecturers were UPJC President Ian Vincent Imperial, CJW Naga Project Head Alfred Panes, Vice-President for Internal Affairs Eunille Santos, Membership Committee’s Bea Cruz and UPJC Alumna Jenina Borromeo.
Topics include News Writing, Copy Editing and Headline Writing, Editorial Writing, Sports Writing, Layouting, Photojournalism, Editorial Cartooning, Feature Writing, Broadcasting, Ethics and Career Orientation.
At the end of the workshop, adviser Madame Rhodora Cortina announced her plans to revive the school paper, The Josephian Advocate.
She said that the activity was a great help in developing the skills of her students in journalistic writing.
CJW Naga was spearheaded by UPJC Batch 10B, Team-O, Alfred Panes, Jossa Kristine Soler, Yvan Reiner Limson, Ramon Raquid and Stela Marie Vicher in cooperation with Christelle Delvo.
